Neptune Technologies has well-equipped research laboratories at its production plant in Sherbrooke, Quebec. These laboratories are used for the research and development of novel bioactive ingredients and applications, as well as product development work for the dietary supplement and functional food markets.

They are also used to perform stability studies required for regulatory purposes, analytical chemistry and quality control.

Neptune Technologies and its pharmaceutical subsidiary Acasti Pharma have established full operational preclinical laboratories within Montreal Technopole Angus biotech incubator facility.

Animal health technicians to conduct studies establishing the safety pharmacology / toxicology and efficacy, or proof-of-concept, of newly formulated or novel marine biomass extracts are recruited.

Aspects related to GLP analytical chemistry and long term PK/PD studies in dual preclinical species are outsourced to qualified contract research organizations required for regulatory filing to national agencies to obtain authorization to enter human clinical trials.
