A first significant breakthrough: products extracted from krill

Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. utilizes its exclusive patented process, Neptune OceanExtract™, to extract active ingredients from krill, a cold deepwater zooplankton. The extract is rich in long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids functionalised with phospholipids and potent antioxidants, including the only flavonoid of animal origin. The final results of phase II clinical studies scientifically validate within high levels of significance the exceptional benefits of Neptune Krill Oil (NKO®) on human health.

The Company is continuing its Research and Development efforts by adapting its extraction process to other marine species, such as calanus, red crab and certain underexploited or unexploited fish and crustaceans.

The unique technological platform - Neptune OceanExtract™ - consolidates various processes for cold extraction of bioactive compounds from marine biomass. Cold extraction preserves the bioactive properties of the extracted components while allowing a high yield and minimal waste. When applied to krill, Neptune OceanExtract enables the extraction of a high-quality multicomplex compound marine oil, NKO®, sterile, free of heavy metals, PCBs, dioxins and pesticides, proven to be safe for human consumption.
